About the Project
Everything we do at The Safeguard Project is rooted in three unshakeable principles. Evidence — because children deserve medical decisions grounded in rigorous science, not political pressure or social trends. Compassion — because every child, every parent, and every family navigating these issues deserves to be treated with dignity, patience, and genuine care. And common ground — because protecting kids is not a conservative issue or a liberal issue, it is a human issue that the vast majority of Americans already agree on when the noise dies down. These three principles guide every piece of content we create, every policy we advocate for, and every conversation we are brave enough to have.
At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to the mental health and emotional wellbeing of every young person. We believe that vulnerable children deserve thorough, unhurried mental healthcare that addresses the root causes of their struggles — not fast tracked solutions that skip the hard but necessary work of healing. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and other underlying conditions are real, they are common, and they deserve to be treated first. A child who feels seen, supported, and properly cared for has the best chance at a healthy future — and that is the outcome we are fighting for every single day.
